Here is a quick snapshot to enable an FTP Server on Mac OSX. The below commands need to be run on a terminal.

Starting the FTP Server

sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist  

That's it! The FTP Server is enabled

Stopping the FTP Server

Use the below to stop the FTP Server

sudo -s launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist

Accessing the FTP Server

Simply use a client like FileZilla to seamlessly transfer whatever you need!

Use the IP Address of the Mac as the server and the username and password needed.
